The Mazda sedan is a good alternative to the Ford Mondeo, thanks to its excellent handling and generous equipment.

The Mazda 6 is a good-looking, spacious, sharp driving car. And that’s a problem for some. Sedans without German badges aren’t in such demand and are being squeezed out by crossovers, more affordable SUVs and pesky Germans.

The 6 is one of the few family sedans that has sporty manners and impressive engines that are a great combination of high performance and good fuel economy. Low CO2 emissions will also find favor with drivers.

With each update, the design of the Six gets brighter. Sporty lines, leather trim throughout the cabin makes the car a comfortable place not only for driving, but also for relaxing.

If we talk about the Mazda 6 2.2D that came to us at Upstage for chip tuning, we can say that it is the latest version of the Japanese competitor Mondeo, equipped with a 2.2-liter turbodiesel engine.

The 2.2d unit available is rated at 150Hp and 380Nm. And while they produce peak power at an identical 4500rpm, their torque is distributed differently. While the 175Hp has all 420Nm available around 2000rpm, the peak 380Nm of the de-fortified motor lies on the shelf from 1800 to 2600rpm, offering the driver a more supple engine character.

On the road, the motor feels confident during quiet driving, and Mazda’s claimed figure for acceleration from a standstill to 100 km/h of 9.8 sec is quite believable.

The diesel Mazda 6, which came to us, showed the following stock measurements: 147Hp and 372Nm. But after Stage1, the car left with completely different indicators: 203Hp and 455Nm.

And the performance after the chip increased by: +56Hp and +83Nm.
