Stage1 BMW 540i G30.

The seventh generation of BMW 5-series cars in the G30 body successfully combines comfort and the capability to show its character when needed. The 540i is equipped with a turbocharged three-liter gasoline engine with the code name B58. This unit produces 340 horsepower and 450 Nm in stock form. In reality, under optimal weather conditions and low temperature, the car shows even better results. For a turbo engine, two factors are very important: air temperature and humidity. Therefore, BMW slightly underestimates the factory performance to avoid conflicts and insure themselves.

In our case, when we put the car on a dynamometric stand and made measurements, we got a little more than the declared numbers – namely 353 horsepower and 473 Nm. This engine turned out to be very successful and has a huge potential for tuning. The client decided to stay at the Stage1 level for now and enjoy the ride, and then move on to the next level.

The process of reading the original firmware is carried out using special equipment through the OBD connector, without removing or disassembling the engine control unit. After the procedure is completed, we receive the firmware file and send it to our partners, who make all the necessary corrections and changes. After some time, the ready firmware is returned to us and we start the process of uploading it back into the car.

Once all the work is completed, we put the car back on the dyno stand and make another measurement, but this time with the tuning version. The result is the following: 392 horsepower and 537 Nm. This means that chip tuning has added +39 horsepower and +64 Nm for the BMW 540i G30 model.
