Mazda CX-5 is a compact crossover produced by the Japanese automaker. The company’s first production car, the body design is created according to the KODO philosophy – Soul of Motion. This is also the first model under the Skyactiv Technology technical concept, aimed at reducing the weight of all vehicle components without compromising performance or safety.

Our company UPstage recently had a diesel version of this car – the 2.2 Skyactiv-D, which produces 175 horsepower and 420 Nm. The owner of this car decided to do a chip tuning for his Mazda CX-5 2.2 Skyactiv-D to improve its dynamic characteristics and increase power. Stage1 includes only software tuning, without any mechanical modifications to the car.

The work of our specialists follows a precise schedule! Before placing the car on the dynamometer, we must make sure that everything is in order! By conducting a computer diagnosis, we can ensure the car’s functionality. After receiving a positive diagnosis, we can proceed to the first test on the actual dynamometer.

The initial results showed 171 horsepower and 389 Nm on the original software. The car did not quite reach its claimed characteristics, but this is not a critical issue, as it often happens because of fuel quality.

Once the initial results are received, the original software is read from the engine control unit and sent to our partners for more detailed tuning. After some time, we receive a response from our partners with the finished tuning version of the software.

Then the modified software is flashed back onto the car and the next power test is performed. The tuned version showed 208 horsepower and 483 Nm, an increase of +37 horsepower and +94 Nm. The owner was very pleased with the results and his request was fully met, which is the most important thing for us!
