Hello everyone. In today’s post we will talk about the new G-Class in the W464 body. This platform was introduced in early 2018. The power unit in this model is a four-liter petrol engine with the code name M 176 DE 40 AL with twin turbocharging. The factory stated specifications are: 422 hp. and 610 Nm.

The owner decided to do chip tuning for his Mercedes-Benz G 500 in our company UPstage. This engine has a very good strength reserve and large potential in tuning. With the Stage1 software tuning, it is easy to achieve a result of 500+ hp, but let’s see what will happen in reality.

The test on the dynamometer showed us the actual power of the car, which was: 444 hp. and 626 Nm. With these initial figures, we can move on!

The next stage is to read out the original software from the engine control unit. For this, we use equipment that allows us to read the software directly from the OBD connector, without removing the block from the car, let alone disassembling it.

Then we send the firmware file to our partners, the engineers tune the firmware for the car and send us back a ready-made tuning file. We write it back into the car and prepare for the next final test.

With Stage1 software tuning, the car showed: 538 hp. and 814 Nm., which is +94 hp. and +188 Nm. more than in stock.
