Full-size luxury crossover, from German company Mercedes-Benz. The second generation of the GL-Class was introduced in April 2012 (X166), but in 2015 the company carried out a restyling of the model, and also changed the name of the series of cars to the GLS-Class. Although the new model is larger in size, it has a more luxurious interior and exterior, as well as a wide range of high-tech technologies and tools. Nevertheless, the developers managed to reduce the weight of the car by about 100kg compared to its predecessor. In addition, the second generation is equipped with a gasoline engine with two turbos. Now this gasoline three-liter V6 (M276 E30) engine produces 362 horsepower. and 500Nm.

The owner of this car has already reprogrammed his previous cars, and this is no exception. After driving for a while on the stock software, he decided that it was time to do chip tuning for his Mercedes-Benz GLS 450. There is never too much reserve power under the gas pedal, so the client turned to us at UPstage for help.

Taking the car into work, the first thing to do is to perform a full computer diagnostic to identify any malfunctions. When we get a positive response, we can proceed to testing on the dyno stand. Firmly securing the car, we can make the first measurement and obtain the results. The stock car showed: 351hp. and 501Nm. The car did not quite reach the declared 362hp, but the torque was within the norm.

Then, our specialists read out the original software and send it to our partners for a full and individual tuning of the software. After some time, we receive a response with the already prepared tuning version of the firmware, and we are ready to start recording. After recording the tuned version back, we can move on to the next power test. The second test gave these results: 412hp. and 610Nm. This means that we have gained an increase of +61hp. and +109Nm. The owner noticed the difference right away – the car started to go much more energetically! He was very happy with the result!
